On Tuesday 25 September, the Selwyn Sports Trust ‘Bike to School Morning’ aims to provide an opportunity for the Yr5-8 Rolleston school community to join together to celebrate safe, active transportation.
‘Bike to School Morning’ raises awareness the importance of increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The event aims to build connections between families, schools and the broader community.
The event will begin at Brookside Park, 8 am with kids, parents and community leaders meeting at Brookside Park to participate in a range special activities such as bike safety incentives, speed laser tests, jump jam, sausage sizzle, More FM and pedal mania. At 9 am we will depart on bike trains to schools with the support of parents, community leaders, and Lincoln University students. Cyclists will arrive at school at around 9.30am
The success of the Selwyn Sports Trust ‘Bike to School Morning’ will not be possible without the support of the Rolleston Police and Selwyn District Council.
